The Northside Leadership Conference, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is a coalition of Northside community-based organizations committed to addressing mutual concerns through a united approach in order to promote and enhance the vitality, quality of life and image of Pittsburgh’s Northside. NSLC serves nearly 20% of the City and operates seven business lines, making NSLC the largest and most comprehensive community development corporation in Pittsburgh. NSLC also has two subsidiaries, the Northside Community Development Fund, a non-profit loan fund, and The Northside Chronicle, a monthly community newspaper.
The Northside Community Development Fund was established in 2000 as a subsidiary of the Northside Leadership Conference and is a Community Development Financial Institution certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury. The Northside Community Development Fund provides loans and financing for businesses and real estate development projects throughout the Northside of the City of Pittsburgh. The Fund also promotes community development on Pittsburgh’s Northside by providing financial products and technical assistance to encourage business expansion and job creation, offering financial products and technical assistance to stimulate entrepreneurship and encourage the development of women- and minority-owned businesses, and leveraging resources for housing development to increase development capacity and production.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (URA) is the City of Pittsburgh’s economic development agency, committed to creating jobs, expanding the City’s tax base and improving the vitality of businesses and neighborhoods.
The URA achieves this mission by assembling, preparing and conveying sites for major mixed-use development; and by providing a portfolio of programs that include financing for business location, relocation and expansion, housing construction and rehabilitation, and home purchases and improvements. The URA is also committed to equitable development, and incorporates best practices for equity and inclusion into its internal and external policies and activities.
